  1. Where’s the new theme Liz? ;)

    • Afraid to change the theme, because I know my readers so well, many of them have been following since the start of this site.

Know their likes, dislikes, personalities, and other important traits about readers from reading their own blog posts for many months.

Changing themes can cause some issues and even lower readership, that I highly value.

Experienced this prior, when changed themes. Theme does not seem as important these days, as the theme doesn’t even show on a SmartPhone, and many bloggers reading/commenting from the iPhone at present.

The iPhone makes reading/commenting on blogs quick and easy, find it faster than my laptop.

  2. I can understand how unsettling it can be to change themes or to branch out in a new area. I don’t mean for readers, but for yourself. Writing is basically laying out your heart and mind on the table and letting people look at them and comment on their quality and validity. You also get the strange third-person perspective when looking at what you write and about what you want to write. It can definitely reveal where you are at in your life and development. Perhaps you might be experiencing that? The readers that know and care about you will continue to follow you. You also will probably attract more readers the more authentic you are to yourself. Your piece is lovely and made me adore eccentric that much more :) Thank you for sharing it – it had that haunting feeling that those great late night conversations can give you. It is as if there is some special energy in the air that makes those moments so memorable and otherworldly.

    • True Rebecca, every single sentence!

Late night conversations are just more in depth, don’t know why, maybe because the brain is more relaxed. You are right they contain a special energy, doesn’t matter if with a friend or co-worker or a lover even…those late conversations seem to stand out in our minds forever.

You are correct I am branching out in my writing, and it is scary but exciting at the same time. Change can be that way, I think…but necessary.

Felt this piece was literally the first “real writing” I have done in several months.

I thank you for your deep and heart felt opinion, as I value your feedback highly, and respect you as an expert writer (in my opinion).

      • That can be scary and very rewarding to suddenly find yourself doing real writing. I remember you once said that you didn’t think you were so good when you started blogging, so it must be so rewarding to be in this place where you can say fairly objectively, “that was real writing.” It take a real writer to do real writing. You are very brave to share it with the world. Change is good, but it is still uncomfortable. Necessary is a good way to describe it.

  3. More like it please :D lol
Changing the theme shouldn’t put people off, but if you’re worried just pick one that’s a similar layout to yours but different colours or something :D

    • @mystudentstruggles – thank you and I do have a post like this in the works. Appreciate theme feedback, just so many to choose from, hard decision. WP does have beautiful themes.
      :)

  4. Themes, schmemes. Just put out product worth reading. The hungry are everywhere. I did change mine once (in 2 1/2 years), because my original choice was white type on a dark background, and some of my subscribers who were visually impaired said it was hard for them to see properly. So I tried to pick the most generic “blank slate”, like newsprint paper, or a whiteboard not written on. This theme is fine. I can see it!

Thank you for your opinion and feedback. I will visit your blog and comment. Have a wonderful day!
