E-mails: Information Overload?

  1. Please note that I receive an overload of many e-mails in one day (not bragging) just the truth.
  2. Time restraints: Unable to keep up with this flow of e-mails that are personal, professional, and website related.
  3. Website, Facebook and Tumblr, are quite the job, so have not opened my e-mail because it is overwhelming.

The e-mails – I take one look and have to close it down, because information overload and limits writing/commenting time.

Many bloggers asking why I am not responding to e-mails, please note it is due to the following reasons:

  • not a personal reason
  • have not responded to personal e-mails, even from people in my personal life
  • due to time restraints
  • never liked e-mail (don’t know why)
  • just way too many e-mails and I mean hundreds, not possible to respond

If you wish to contact me in private, please message me on Facebook.  This website is on Facebook, and is public under “Liz Fruitberry.”  Plug-in to Facebook, from the Gravatar profile.

Thank you, and appreciate your e-mails, as I know you took much time to write them.

Eccentric “likes”

Quick note to new readers:

Gravatar profiles – I would love to visit your site from your “likes” here on Eccentric, but I am noting that some bloggers have not plugged in their website/blog to the Gravatar profile.

Please note how if you click on my little photo…Do you see how in the Gravatar profile, my website is listed & Facebook information?

You can fix this setting fairly quickly by taking the following steps:

  1. Dashboard
  2. Settings
  3. Discussion
  4. Click on your Gravatar photo
  5. Add your site to your Gravatar profile
  6. You can also do a “plug in” from the Gravatar profile to your Facebook page

The Facebook plug-in that is connected to this site is not a personal Facebook site. In my opinion, it is a good idea to have a Facebook page solely for your website/blog, that is not connected to your personal Facebook page.

Why?

Keeping the website/blog separate from the personal contacts is a good idea, as you may not wish to have people from across the globe, to have the ability to contact people in your personal life.

Suburbitches: Round Two

Well readers, let’s just get on with this rant. Straight from my mind to the paper. Someone had the nerve to say the following words to me yesterday, (more…)

Humor Quotes

“Hey WordPress Admin, let’s install a map widget, that shows our exact location, so every psycho can locate us, just like Facebook!” (making fun of Facebook here, not WP)

Why do people give out their exact location on a map on Facebook?

“WP, let’s add another widget, than my blog could just be one giant widget. It shall be called “Liz’s Land of Widgets.”

“Thank you WP for changing things, just when I thought I had them figured out.”

“Hey Facebook, you suck.”

“WordPress, please buy Facebook?”

“I shall Twitter my exact location and what I am doing so everyone knows.”

“Glad everyone on Facebook knows all of the fun things they were never invited to do…”

“Facebook = paranoia”

“Perhaps I should put a photo of my butt on Facebook, so everyone knows that there is a party, and everyone is invited.” The party is called “Kiss my ass Facebook.”

“Hey, I thought I had 200 friends on Facebook, so why am I alone on a Saturday night?”

“Facebook gives me friends I don’t even know. Thank you FB!”

Hey Facebook friends, why do you put those stupid ass photos on your wall that are a giant question mark? Like I am clicking on that…for real?

If I read “Not feeling so good today” one more time on Facebook. Ugh. Well, I am not feeling your whining, when I know you, and you have zero health or other problems.

“My exact location on the Facebook map is that I am not home, hopefully I do not get robbed.” I will let everyone know on FB when I almost home, so the robbers can escape.

Trust is Important in the Blogosphere!

Ok, I am going to try and write this kindly and professionally. I have posted a million links on this subject. I am going to put this in nice plain writing.

1.  About Page – Why would I comment with no photo or credentials listed on an about page?

2. Gravatar Image – Why would I click on a Gravatar that looks like a spam image?

Not going to…why? Too much spam. The Gravatar, should have your photo, along with your profile. This creates trust. Trust is essential.

Why would I trust to comment on your blog, with no “about page” and no Gravatar image? I will not. Gravatar image must have a photo. About page must have a photo with information about the author.

Look at a book…it has a photo of the author and credentials or information on the cover. Correct? Yes, it does. I will not visit your site or comment without a Gravatar or an about page. Why? Think you are a spammer. Why? No credentials.

I am having technical issues with my Gravatar at the moment. Contacting WP to fix this issue, as it is not showing correctly on other sites.

Noticed many spammers on WordPress lately, with crazy Gravatar images. I do not visit sites unless it is a real photo of a person.

Posted this, just to let readers know background information on spammers.

The “likes” widget is changing the WP community. It is driving readers to click the like button, instead of commenting.

A blogging community is centered around commenting, not liking. A person does not even have to read a post in order to “like” it.

Blogging is about reading and discussion.

Commenting is what drives a blogging community.

If there is only “likes” and no discussion, what is the point?

Discussion drives thoughts and learning.

What can I learn from a “like?”

If I wanted to press buttons, I would go to Facebook or Tumblr.

The likes widget is a bad idea. It stops the discussion.

Should I blog with no discussion?
